Press Release 24/01/2007

Opticabase is pleased to announce that since its launch to the Optical profession in November 2006, 28 trial versions of Opticabase have been distributed with very good feedback. Over 14 additional practices since November 2006 are now using the software. A few practices have also had the data from their existing software imported into Opticabase.

Martin Housden, Optometrist in Scotland, has been using the software for a couple of months. He says “The program is straight forward and easy to use.  No problems getting it customised to suit our specific needs before buying it. I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone needing patient management software.”

Sally, Gary, and David of the Eye Team in Manchester say “ We love the programme. After a few expected technical difficulties (mostly our fault!), we don't know how we managed without your system. Even the Optician is getting to grips with using it!

Everything is really well set out and inputting all our patient records didn't take as long as we thought.

For our practice this programme has been just what we needed, many practice databases available are just too detailed and too complicated for a small practice.”

Opticabase is low cost software designed for independent optical practices. For a one off fee Opticabase can be purchased along with full support in setting up the program as well as 3 months e-mail support. There are no on-going monthly costs unlike other optical software.

The main features of Opticabase are the printing of NHS forms and a flexible Patient Recall system. Inputting of patient details is simplified using a customizable dropdown box system.

During the last 3 months there have been two new versions added to compliment the existing program. So there are now three versions on offer, Opticabase Reminders Program, Opticabase Plus (the original) and Opticabase Extra.

Some of the new developments include the option of NHS forms for either England or Scotland, latest prescription and notes recording and a more comprehensive direct mail shot system.

Opticabase Optical practice management software was written by Michael Prais, an Optometrist with 3 independent practices and involved in IT consultancy.

More details of the software can be viewed at the recently updated website www.opticabase.co.uk
